About us

A cornerstone of El Paso for nearly a century

Savage Oil Company began in the dawn of the automotive era, when Victor Anderson founded it as an oil manufacturer. The name and the arrow logo, as the family tells it, were inspired by a striking portrait Anderson saw on a rare trip to the Grand Canyon.

Operating through the Permian Basin boom, the company became a trusted Texaco distributor. Leadership passed to Anderson’s son-in-law, Henry Clay Summerford, and then to his grandson, Kent Summerford — who steered the company out of the volatile energy business and into commercial real estate, turning old service stations into thriving local mechanic shops and building retail centers in partnership with MIMCO.

In 2021 Kent handed operations to his daughter, Megan Campuzano, who leads the company today as Owner and President. The portfolio is managed in Kent’s honor — he passed away on March 16, 2024 — with the same hard work and integrity he ran it with for decades, largely as its sole full-time employee.

“Our commitment remains rooted in the same values of integrity and local dedication that have defined us since 1927.”
